Attorney Profiles

Michele L. Walton is an integral part of our commercial litigation, bankruptcy and creditors' rights practices. Michele has broad litigation experience at all levels of the state and federal courts, and has represented clients in various types of lawsuits and arbitrations, including shareholder, executive compensation, fraudulent conveyance, accounting, securities, real estate and breach of contract litigation. Michele is also actively involved in representing our business clients in bankruptcy adversary actions.

Prior to joining Jacob & Weingarten in 2007, Michele gained invaluable experience at two of our nation's largest firms. Most recently, she was a Partner at the law firm of Reed Smith, which is one of the 15 largest law firms in the world. Before moving to Reed Smith, Michele spent five years at the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, and Meagher & Flom.

Michele excelled in all of her academic endeavors. She received her law degree in 1999 from DePaul University College of Law where she graduated with honors and order of the coif. Michele received several awards and honors while at DePaul, including awards of excellence in civil procedure, complex civil litigation and Illinois civil procedure.  Michele also served as the managing editor of lead articles for the DePaul Law Review. She graduated summa cum laude from Michigan State University with her undergraduate degree in 1996.

Michele is licensed to practice law in both Michigan and Illinois. Michele is also admitted to practice in the Eastern District of Michigan, the Northern District of Illinois, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
